Bookings
How clients book
Four steps, no account, and what changes for mobile services and event requests.
No account, no app. A client taps your link and is booked in four steps. The shape changes for mobile services and for event trades, which the sections below cover.
Appointments: four steps
Service
One service, or several in one visit. Categories keep a long menu readable.Specialist
A named team member, or “First available”. Only the people who offer that service are shown.Time
A day, then the times that are genuinely free — after your hours, your team’s hours, time off, closures, and every existing booking are taken into account.Details
Name, mobile number and email. The email is required, because that is where the booking link goes. Then one tap to confirm.
The confirmation screen shows the booking and the client’s private link, with a copy button, so they have it even before the email arrives.
Mobile services: you go to them
Pet grooming, auto detailing, pet sitting and house cleaning ask for the address you are coming to in the Details step, because the appointment cannot exist without it. If you set a service radius in Settings, an address Primsy can place on the map — by its US ZIP code — that falls outside the radius is refused with a plain sentence and a suggestion to call you. An address Primsy cannot place — the postcode is not one it recognises, or the “You travel from” postcode in Settings is blank — is accepted and left for you to judge: the check abstains rather than refuse a real booking.
Event trades: a request, not a slot
Private chefs, bakeries, food trucks, event stylists and caterers do not book by the half hour. Their page shows a menu with photos and per-item prices, and the client sends a request: the date, an arrival window rather than a single time, notes, and — for gatherings — the guest count (a bakery order asks for pickup details instead). Nothing is held until you confirm, and the client is told exactly that. If your business takes a deposit, the percentage is shown on their booking link as “Deposit on confirmation”. See Your schedule for confirming requests.
Booking again
A client’s Book again, on their booking link after a visit or a cancellation, starts with the same services and team member chosen. They pick a new time and confirm their details as usual.
The waitlist
Under the times for a day, a client can join that day’s waitlist for any time, the morning, the afternoon or the evening, with the services and team member they chose; a fully booked day can still be chosen for this. If a time that suits them is already free, they are asked to book it instead, and a part of the day where no time could ever open up, because nothing is booked then, is refused. When a booking that day is cancelled or moved, everyone waiting whose part of the day now has a free time gets an email with a link to book it; nothing is held, so the first to book gets it. Each person is offered a time at most three times, and not twice within 30 minutes. Joining again with the same number or email changes nothing; to change their choices, a client leaves and joins again. Their emails have a link to leave the waitlist, and booking with the same mobile number for that day takes them off it. Event requests have no waitlist.
Questions you ask
In Settings, under Booking and availability, you can add up to 10 questions for the booking page: a short or longer answer, yes or no, one of your choices, or a box to tick to agree. Each is asked for every service or only the ones you choose, and can be required. The booking page asks the questions for the services a client chose, on the last step, and a required one must be answered before they can book. Answers show on the booking and in your bookings download, as the question was worded when they answered; if you change a question while someone is booking, their page shows the new wording before they can book. Bookings you add yourself ask nothing.
Keep health details out of your questions: a condition, a treatment, medication or an allergy. Primsy is not built for health information (see Privacy and security), and Settings warns you when a question looks like it asks for it.
Booked time stays booked
If two clients try for the same time at once, one of them gets it and the other is shown the next available time — the database itself refuses the overlap, so it is not a race the app could lose. Prep and cleanup time you set on a service is protected the same way. For a visit with several services booked from now on, the longest prep time among them and the last service’s cleanup time are protected — the same rule the calendar used when it offered the slot. A visit booked before this rule keeps the prep time it was saved with.
