Messages

Who gets the message

Messages go to the contact given for that booking — never to whoever used the number before.

A phone number is not a person. Numbers get recycled, a household shares one, a front desk books for several people. So every booking keeps its own contact details, and messages about a booking go only to the contact given for that booking.

What that means in practice

  • A booking made online carries the name, mobile number and email the client typed. Its confirmation, reminder, change notices and cancellation go to that email; when texts are on and the client ticked the box for them, the confirmation, reminder and new-time notice go to that number too. A cancellation is email only. Nothing goes anywhere else.
  • If a client books with a number somebody else used before, the earlier person’s email is never used. Their private link never reaches the wrong inbox.
  • A walk-in or phone booking with no email typed gets no email. Primsy does not fill in an address from an earlier visit, because it cannot know whether the earlier visit was the same person.
  • The name on a booking is the name given for it. A later booking under the same number does not rename the earlier one.

Why the client list still groups by number

Your client list groups bookings by phone number so a returning client’s bookings count together. That is a convenience for you, and it is only that: it decides nothing about who receives a message. If two people share a number, you will see them grouped; each of their bookings still messages its own contact. Add a note to the client record if that ever needs untangling.
